Jeez what a bunch of crybabies. If I were Anet I'd pull the plug on all gifts and events. They've added so much to this game since those early days and still people are never satisfied.

As for me, I'll bid Anet a fond thanks for the free cash and maybe even ecto I'll receive as the result of this 'terrible gift',...oooh, to think they could've given me a 2-yr. pin,..rofl!

What was being referenced was something Gaile did or did not say last year, shortly after the first minis were released.

I'm glad my family members at christmas time aren't like the whiners on these forums... otherwise I'd stop getting them presents.

I like many of the new minis. Except that horrible elf (what were they thinking?) and gwen. I didn't want gwen following me around pre; it would be just as creepy having mini-gwen following me around the rest of the game.

Thank you Anet for the interesting new minipets! I quite like them all (except for the elf, it's just plain ugly... but hey, someone else might like it). I'm still waiting for my first birthday which should be in a week or two, but I will definitely look forward to getting a second birthday too.

And I really wish people wouldn't whine so much about this. Anet doesn't have to give you anything for your birthday, many games don't, and getting nothing for an anniversary has never lessened their playerbase. I think it's very kind and wonderful of Anet to do this kind of thing, because it's a fun little extra to the game.

It doesn't matter. My point is, and always was Gaile made a post to ask about what we would want IF they did minis. She then pointed out that minis were NOT set in stone for the 2nd year(she made this quote on several forums as well). She also goes on to say that the input is good (even if some things like more storage or resetting deaths what not viable for birthdays)

The thread it's from is immaterial, the fact is it's simply not true that she or anyone else set minis in stone for the 2nd birthday until this week.

I think having minis has more to do with the fact that they need to spend time on other, more important things. I'm totally for that. Doesn't mean I have to fall in love with minis. I still feel they could have picked better ones, but whatever. I'll still enjoy the money.

Some people are sick of mini-pets. Some people really like them. Just like some people really hate the idea of players looking like Bosses (I'd assume that's what "auras" mean)? On that point, how different could the auras look? Different colors? It'll still be annoying to look at glowing party members for an hour, no matter what the color...

Agreed that Gaile goes out of her way to cover her ass. But, in no way is that saying for sure we'll be getting anything for our Birthday!

My point: Be glad you got something at all. If I was Anet, I would give the lot of you whiners nothing.

You were arguing a point to someone when it wasn't even what was being contended in the first place. I'd say... that does matter and is not immaterial to what was being talked about by the other people.

Someone claimed that Gaile said just after the first miniatures were released that 2nd birthday presents would be something else entirely. The person was angry and felt they'd been lied to because they claim Gaile promised it would be something different. Someone else contended that she promised no such thing, but rather said at the time that it would be a new set of miniatures.

THAT is what the argument was about that you quoted. You turned it into something else. For what you are talking about, yes, it is immaterial. For what they were talking about, is it not immaterial.

All I could find on the Game & Dev Tracker forum about it was this thread.
At the time, Gaile just seemed to be mysterious about the second year present, which seems to me that it certainly wasn't decided back then what it would be.

Yeah, that's not a point of contention('Idiot' and all). [/sarcasm.] I was arguing that this statement was false. That's what I said and that's why I quoted it in the first place.

Well of COURSE some people like/don't like. I still think you'd be hard pressed to find that minis won the poles. Anyways, boss aura? eww.. I pointed out before (man I keep saying things over and over) ROSE type of aura.. basically a slight glow on the armor. Could be a smoky glow on the feet, arms, or weapons. Could look like fire, or pour off like water, there are so many cool things you could do. Of course it takes time. I think that is the main issue.

I don't think she's "covering her ass" I think she's trying to be honest. She didn't know what they were going to make for the 2nd year.

Maybe you keep missing the part where I say "I'll enjoy the money". I think the Heket looks cool, but more minis is still unimaginative. Could at least had a Glint.

And Mordakai asked for proof of what you were saying. You offered your proof in a thread that was not what was being contended in the first place.

You weren't asked to prove that Gaile never said it recently, you were asked to prove that she never said it a year ago, because that's what they were talking about.

Person A is angry, claiming Gaile promised X. Person B tells Person A that Gaile said Y, not X. Person C said Gaile never said Y, ever. Person D asks Person C to prove she never said Y. Person C produces evidence to Person D that Gaile never said Y recently, but not a year ago.

You proved that Gaile never said what the presents would be recently. You produced no proof that Gaile never said what the presents would or would not be a year ago.

Follow?

how the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO? prove that it was NOT ever said? thats the dumbest thing I heard today, and I hear a lot of dumb shit. the burden of proof lies in proving that something WAS said. Find a quote where the thing WAS said, thats far more realistic than proving something was NOT said... lol

Default So Much Whining

Why? Why?
Been playing this game for two years now, since betas and all.
I read these forums all the time, do not post much, but man what a bunch of
whiney babies.

It's ridiculous, these guys dont charge you for playing, they give you free
updated content , throw cool weekends to get people together, and give you
cool items, for staying with the game, and you guys have to complain.

Well, I have to say, SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! and PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a free game other than buying it, so be thankful you get anything. Some places don't give 2-shite's about players, just the $....

So in close, play the game, and enjoy it, and stop whining about everything.

Thanks for letting me put my 2 cents in.....

LOL. Well, I think we agree more than we disagree. I'm not really sure where the argument is: We both agree that complex auras would probably be too much to do well, and we agree that boss auras suck.

Sure, Glint would be great, maybe we'll see Her next year. Gwen makes sense, though since GW:EN is coming out this year. I'm actually surprised they didn't have more "preview" minis like the Asura. Maybe they're saving those for promotions or CEs, maybe they'll release them next year.

Meh, whatever the reason, with the exception of the Elf, the new crop of minis ain't bad. I'm looking forward to 5 months when I actually get one!

In the meantime, if anyone is going to delete their mini anyway, hook me up!

(And I'm totally confused on the "Gaile didn't say this / yes she did" argument. Lets just let that go for now. We can all agree that Gaile never promised anything for our 2nd birthdays, and that's really the only relative point.)

To everyone still going on about "what Gaile said", yes she did say they were willing to hear other ideas. But maybe they didn't like the ideas, or they didn't have the kind of time to design some of the stuff that was suggested by the time they made the thread. Yes, shortly after the first birthday she said the second birthday wouldn't be the same. And it isn't, we have an all new set of minis and a weekend event. Maybe we will see one of those ideas implemented for the third birthday, we don't know.

They do listen to their player base far more than most games ever do, but you're mistaken if you think they're obligated to do what the players demand. They're going to do what they want to do no matter what anyone says or feels.

And no, they haven't lied to or deceived anyone.

I knew it'd be minis. So I'm not surprised. Their "poll" threads could have shown 99% of people didn't want minis (actually most of them showed 60-70% didnt..w/e) and it'd still be minis. Anet Freakin LOVES Minis for some reason...every "special gift" for the last year has been a mini.

Get over it people :\

No I wasn't. I was asked for a link to a quote I referred to the (quote shows that Gaile didn't want to set 2nd year birthday presents in stone) You keep adding in this idea that Mordakai was intent on talking to me about specific dates. You're just making that up.

How many times do I have to point out I was never asked to "prove" specifically dated events. As a matter of fact, the only one who asked for a link was Mordakai and he(she?) also pointed out "The thread I saw didn't read like that at all (unless it's a different thread...)"
Mordakai understood that it's possible that my statement was true and wanted to see proof Gaile said it. I gave a link to the place where Gaile said what I quoted.

If you want to make the point that Gaile said
"yes there will be minis next year"
one day, and said
"we aren't saying there will be minis again"
some other time, that's a different story. But I know that Gaile said
"The initial casual question was not intended to say, "The Second Birthday Present will be miniatures." We have only asked what miniatures would be desired if we do offer those as the b'day gift or -- consider this! -- if we add more minis for other purposes."
and I've never hear her say that minis WOULD be the 2nd year present untill this week.

Agreed. I totally agree with you on this. I kind of assume that minis were all they could pull off right now, and I respect that. I also agree they listen to their fans more than any co. I know.

Yeah I know, I know.. I'm just being stubborn. Well.. At least you guys are making me appreciate the minis more. Seriously. Aataxe or Heket might be fun. Please no Elf, PLEASE!
